7 – Lion Rock to Cockle Creek

Approximate Walking Time: 2 hours

The last day was a simple 7 km walk along mostly flat boardwalk – an easy way to finish.

A stroll along the beach brought us to the wooden steps leading off.

Harry contributed to a cairn here and then we were up and around the cliff and into Blowhole Valley.

The rest was an excellent, cruisy walk back into Cockle Creek – quite a few surfers were headed the other way into the beach to take advantage of the great surf.

As we walked out, we signed the Registration Book and then headed to the bridge next to the Ranger’s station (there’s really nothing else there – the public phone is well marked and obvious and near the entrance to the carpark at the ranger’s station).

End of the South Coast Track

That was the end of the brilliant South Coast Track walk – 84 km of wilderness walking with ever-changing bush, sensational scenery and nature at its best.

Difficulty Rating: Piece of Cake+++ (easiest day by a mile)

Plenty of boardwalk and pretty flat.

If you start at Cockle Creek don’t be fooled into thinking that all of the track is going to be like this.
